SSI, Healthcare Management Team Up
Mobile, Alabama, July 3, 2007 - The SSI Group Inc., Mobile-based provider of health care claims management software, has announced a partnership with Healthcare Management Systems Inc. of Nashville, Tenn., that allows Healthcare Management to resell SSI products.
SSI said the partnership, effective immediately, promises to expand its marketing muscle and spark employment growth in Mobile, where the 20-year-old company already has more than 350 people at work.
"It will mean growth," said Ray Payne, vice president of marketing/ASP for SSI. "Obviously, it's going to increase our revenue, our client base, and in turn, create jobs in Mobile."
SSI's client base exceeds 2,200 and includes hospitals, doctors, HMOs and insurance carriers, according to the company.
With the lion's share of employees based at its headquarters on Morrison Drive in west Mobile, SSI claims Mobile as the heart of its operation. The local work force includes client support and research-and-development teams.
"I would say 90 percent of our operation is here," Payne said.
With 385 total employees, the company has sales offices in Clearwater, Fla.; Denver, Colo. and Chesapeake, Va.
Its annual revenue exceeds $40 million, said Jimmy Lyons, chief financial officer.
Payne could not estimate how many jobs would be added or when, but did say that SSI expects to gain 500 to 1,000 new customers over the next two years.
Sold under the trademark ClickON, SSI software handles claims processing and data networking for its medical clients.
Since 2003, SSI has been ranked No. 1 in claims management twice by KLAS Enterprises LLC, an independently owned and operated Utah company that provides vendor performance data to health care providers.
According to SSI, customers using its software have a claims acceptance rate of more than 98 percent.
Payne said the partnership promises to help SSI increase its presence in small, rural hospitals and long-term care facilities, where Healthcare Management has a significant presence.
Healthcare Management has more than 570 customers, which also include behavioral and rehabilitation centers.
Payne said SSI software mainly deals with transactions related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, which requires that health-care providers submit claims in specific ways.
Customers can pay a per-transaction fee, meaning the software fits budgets both large and small, he said. |
